Journal for M.Tech Students: Publishing Your Project as a Research Paper
A practical guide for M.Tech students publishing for the first time, from choosing what to write to receiving your DOI and certificate.
Last updated:
Most M.Tech programmes expect at least one publication from the dissertation, and many students also want a paper before campus or PhD interviews. The challenge is time: the dissertation runs for a year, and many journals take six months or more to review.
IJVAST's 48-hour editorial review target lets you publish a chapter of your dissertation or a literature review while you are still working on the rest, as long as the work is original and well written.
Good M.Tech work to turn into a paper
- A literature review chapter with a clear comparison table of existing methods.
- A simulation or experimental chapter with results compared against a baseline.
- A design and analysis of a system, circuit, structure or algorithm.
- A case study applying a known method to a new dataset or location.
Advice from our editors
- Publish one focused result per paper rather than the whole dissertation.
- Compare your results with at least two published methods.
- Ask your guide to review the manuscript before you submit.
- Keep the paper to 6 to 10 pages in IEEE format.

What IJVAST does not claim
IJVAST is not listed in UGC-CARE, Scopus or Web of Science and does not have an impact factor. We would rather you know this before you submit than after. If your university, scholarship or promotion rule requires one of those listings specifically, check with your guide or department first. For coursework, project reports, conference-style publication, skill building, placement portfolios and an early publication record, a peer-reviewed open-access journal with an ISSN and Crossref DOIs is often exactly what students need.
